美籍韓裔小提琴家張莎拉從八歲時與梅塔及紐約愛樂合作演出帕格尼尼《第一號小提琴協奏曲》之後,九歲時灌製第一張專輯,收錄薩拉沙泰、帕格尼尼、艾爾加及普羅高菲夫等大師的作品;之後與柯林‧戴維斯、倫敦交響樂團合作演出柴可夫斯基的協奏曲等作品,皆受到好評,展開了她職業演奏家的路途,與其他亞裔音樂神童一樣,度過馬不停蹄的演奏兼顧課業的巡迴演奏童年。即便有過疑問,但她也依順地走著音樂的路途,也衷心喜愛古典音樂的世界,甚至視歐陸為她音樂生命的源頭。由於參與多次電視節目的演出,因而擁有廣大的樂迷,演奏會的行程非常緊湊滿檔,經常在亞洲、歐洲及美國的首都演出,她幾乎和所有主要的管弦樂團合作過,包括紐約愛樂、費城管弦樂團、芝加哥交響樂團、波士頓交響樂團、匹茲堡交響樂團、底特律交響樂團、洛杉磯愛樂、華盛頓國家交響樂團、巴爾的摩交響樂團、休士頓交響樂團、克利夫蘭管弦樂團、舊金山交響樂團、多倫多交響樂團、溫哥華交響樂團、辛辛那提交響樂團、聖地牙哥交響樂團、紐澤西交響樂團、柏林愛樂、法國國家管弦樂團、以色列愛樂樂團、倫敦交響樂樂團、北德廣播交響樂團、巴伐利亞廣播交響樂團、奧菲斯室內樂團、亞洲青年管弦樂團等合作,指揮家則有梅塔、柯林‧戴維斯、杜特華、李汶、馬舒、沙瓦利許等人,並曾與安斯涅、布朗夫曼、沙瓦利許、沃格特、祖克曼、史坦、馬友友及柏林愛樂獨奏家合作演出室內樂。
Recognized as one of the foremost violinists of our time, Sarah Chang has performed with the most esteemed orchestras, conductors, and accompanists in an international career spanning more than two decades. Since her debut with the New York Philharmonic at the age of eight, Ms. Chang has continued to impress audiences with her technical virtuosity and refined emotional depth. Highlights from Ms. Chang’s have included performances with such as Berliner Philharmoniker, New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra (Washington), Boston Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, Houston Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, San Diego Symphony Orchestra, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks and Asian Youth Symphony Orhcestra. She has also performed at the Hollywood Bowl and at the Tanglewood, Ravinia, and Aspen Music Festivals, among others. With a career that has blossomed internationally, her European engagements have taken her to Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, and her engagements in Asia have brought her to audiences in China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand. Ms. Chang regularly travels the world, performing with such artists as Wolfgang Sawallisch, Charles Dutoit, Zubin Mehta, Mariss Jansons, Sir Colin Davis, James Levine, Kurt Masur, Yefim Bronfman, Leif Ove Andsnes, Lars Vogt, Pinchas Zukerman, Isaac Stern, Yo-Yo Ma and members of Berliner Philharmoniker. In 2012, Sarah Chang received the Harvard University Leadership Award, and in 2005, Yale University dedicated a chair in Sprague Hall in her name. For the June 2004 Olympic games, she was given the honor of running with the Olympic Torch in New York, and that same month, became the youngest person ever to receive the Hollywood Bowl’s Hall of Fame award. Also in 2004, Ms. Chang was awarded the Internazionale Accademia Musicale Chigiana Prize in Siena, Italy. Other previous distinctions include the Avery Fisher Career Grant, Gramophone’s “Young Artist of the Year” award, Germany’s “Echo” Schallplattenpreis, “Newcomer of the Year” honors at the International Classical Music Awards in London, and Korea’s “Nan Pa” award. In 2011, Ms. Chang was named an official Artistic Ambassador by the United States Department of State.
